I’m part of a new research project, “New Housing Alternatives for a Socially-Just, Post-Covid Urban Canada” (check out my project page here). It’s a far-reaching project that aims to decommodify, definancialize, desegregate, and decolonize our housing system, and brings together a stellar team of researchers and lots of community partner organizations.
At our official launch today, we discussed the structure of the project, how community partners are involved and sub-projects will be funded, and the three over-arching committees on data management, equity and diversity and inclusion, and knowledge mobilization. Alan Walks and Susannah Bunce, as primary investigators, led the discussion and we had a presentation on equity, diversity, and inclusion in research from the U of T research equity representative. We also saw the soft launch of the project website. Overall, it was just great to meet everyone in person, having launched with the one-year Partnership Development Grant in 2023, and only met once in person that year and once this year.
Thanks for the event recap, Ren. It was nice meeting you.
