The much-anticipated report from our 17-member NS Affordable Housing Commission was released yesterday, May 31, 2021. I had the honour of sending the report to Minister Geoff MacLellan at 11am, and he gave a brief statement at 1pm on the government’s commitment to take the report as a roadmap for the future.
We had an incredible group of commissioners as well as 37 other experts who assisted us as guest speakers, sub-committee and working group members. They put in a lot of time over the past six months in developing what we think are a balanced set of recommendations to fundamentally shift the way affordable housing is developed in the province. We’d also like to thank the 2,000 Nova Scotians who visited our website to make comments, filled in a survey, or participated in our workshops and focus groups.
You can read our report at nsaffordablehousingcommission.ca/getinvolved. There’s also a fact sheet and FAQ.
